The Golden Spice: Discover the Incredible Health Benefits of Turmeric

Turmeric is very well known for it's healthful benefits of promoting a healthy response to inflammation, and oxidative stress.  But not all turmeric products are created equal, often being formulated in a way that your body can not absorb.  Let me explain a little more about this.

The turmeric root contains two main components Tumerones and Curcuminoids.  The Tumerones are found in the essential oil extracted through a steam distillation process.  Tumerones promote the body’s healthy response to inflammation and oxidative stress, and may support healthy cellular function. Turmeric essential oil has two unique chemical components, Turmerone and ar-Turmerone, that have been shown to help the body with the absorption of curcumin, offering support to the body’s natural defenses.

The Curcuminoids, or extract, is extracted through a carbon dioxide process.  During this process the essential oil component is lost.  Just like with the steam distillation, the Curcuminoids are lost as the molecule is too large to pass through.  Turmeric extract may be one of the most effective nutritional supplements in existence because it contains Curcuminoids that help the body fight free radicals and have a role in protecting against oxidative damage. An important benefit of Turmeric extract is its ability to maintain a healthy inflammatory response at the molecular level.
