Tap into the Vagus nerve to decrease chronic pain
Jul 28, 2022What is the Vagus Nerve?
It's also called the gut-brain axis. It's the part of the nervous system that your organs communicate to your brain through. In fact more signals go from your organs to your brain than from your brain to your organs, through this system.
When the vagal nerve is stimulated, it turns on your parasympathetic nervous system (calm and restore) part of your body. The parasympathetic system lowers your heart rate, lowers your breathing rate, increases digestions, promoting a state of relaxation.
A high vagal tone means that your body responds quickly to your parasympathetic nervous system. The higher the tone the better.
Watch this short video to see five easy tips for tapping into the vagal nervous system.
These five easy tips are things that you probably already do, but didn’t realize you were doing it!
