Chronic pain hack: Part 14
Mar 16, 2023Which is better for you?
Electric heat or moist heat?
What's the difference?
Dry heat: In dry heat therapy, equipment such as electric heating pads and saunas, are used to draw out moisture from the body. But, in some cases, it may leave the skin dehydrated.
Moist heat: In moist heat therapy, equipment such as hot baths or moist heating packs can aid in the heat’s penetration into the muscles.
A study showed a greater pain reduction with moist heat in less time than dry heat. There’s also a reduced chance of skin irritation since the moisture helps to increase tissue elasticity. Click here to read the study.
Time to ditch the electric heating pads!
Cheers to pain-free living!
