Can negative emotions cause chronic pain?

Simply put...YES!

Emotions are connected very deeply to your memories and beliefs.  Negative emotions will trigger a stress response inside the body.

Unfortunately, your brain and body do not know the difference between emotional stress, physical stress, or mental stress.  It all triggers the same cascade of events inside your body leading to inflammation and pain.

A very simple tool you can use to diffuse the stressful situation is aromatherapy.  Your sense of smell is very powerful and will trigger memories.  Good and bad.

Do you have that fragrance that you just LOVE?  That scent that makes you go AAAHHHHHH...?

That is you what you want to tap into in those stressful moments.

Grab your favorite fragrance and take some slow, deep breaths, breathing in your fragrance.

After 3-4 minutes of doing this, see how you feel.

Better?  Calmer?  Grounded? Less painful?

By doing this deep breathing technique, you are stimulating your parasympathetic nervous system to calm and restore your body.
